Santa Monica-based SHIFT,a collaboration platform for marketers and agencies April 9 announced the launch of their Open Marketing Cloud in a move to help marketers work together more efficiently.

Excellent customer service isn’t just something that happens from company to consumer. Customer service starts within a company. We all know about Zappos customer culture and their willingness to stay on a call with a customer for up to 10 hours. This article is to shine a digital light on a few other companies who have “WOWED” me and their secret sauce to create long term impact that makes at least my day a little bit easier, making me excited to share these companies with everyone I know.

Light bulbs have lit our world for centuries. Sadly, the design and efficiency of the light bulb was heavily flawed. With new environmental issues brought up in the past two decades, new light bulbs are being produced to become more energy and cost efficient. New and more efficient light bulbs have been produced, but a small company called LIFX, thinks it can do a lot better than all the other bulbs designs.

Washington DC’s Colonial Parking has today partnered with ParkMe to provide real-time occupancy information for more than 100 of their parking facilities in DC in a move seen to make Washington, D.C. a world leader in off-street smart parking.

My interest was piqued last year during a phone call with Nick Allen, a member of my CALinnovates Advisory Board. Nick told me that he was in the process of winding down his fund at Spring Ventures, which would allow him to focus his energy on a new business he founded with Sunil Paul. The new venture, called SideCar, launched in San Francisco last June.
